Toledo-Lucas County Public Library

The Toledo-Lucas County Public Libraries are gems of the communities they serve.  State of the art services are offered in beautiful, varied, and well-maintained facilities. The Main Library at 325 Michigan St. in downtown Toledo is especially distinguished for the balance between its rich historical and modern architecture.  The exterior and interior preserves the art deco design of the original building completed in 1940.  An addition, completed in 2001 complements the original building and boasts a soaring glass atrium. In both the Central Court and Children’s areas are stunning glass Vitrolite murals comprised of more than 80 colors.  The library also contains original picture book art, sculptures, including “Reeds,” by Dale Chihuly, a well-known American glass sculptor and “Make U” where customers create their own content. The Blade Rare Book Room is not to be missed.
